According to authorities, the incident occurred in the Sunny Isles area, near the Gas for Less Gas Station in Estate Diamond. At approximately 7:05 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received alerts from the ShotSpotter Detection System indicating multiple rounds of gunfire. Concerned citizens also called in, reporting shots fired and a man down at the scene.
When responding officers arrived, they discovered Emmett lying on the western side of the gas station, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians quickly transported him to Juan F. Luis Hospital in a desperate effort to save his life. Despite those efforts, he was sadly pronounced deceased. The heartbreaking news was later confirmed to his family, who now face an unimaginable loss.
